Henry Ford Hospital thought leaders regularly speak at the cardiology conferences about new research and technology innovations. So, it was an honor when DAIC was invited to conduct a site visit at Henry Ford recently to tour its facilities, sit in on procedures and conduct numerous video interviews to better understand the workings of the institution. 


I recently had the opportunity to conduct an onsite visit to the University of Colorado Hospital Heart and Vascular Center at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colo., which is part of UCHealth.

June 2, 2026 — AccurKardia, Inc. has been granted US Patent No. 12,620,488 for the company's proprietary machine-learning-based system for identifying cardiac amyloidosis from a standard, routinely performed 12-lead ECG.


Venous thromboembolism (VTE), and pulmonary embolism (PE) in particular, are among the most complex and dangerous acute cardiovascular conditions. VTE is the number one cause of preventable death among hospital patients, affecting up to 900,000 Americans each year and taking up to 100,000 lives.1,2 PE represents the third leading cause of cardiovascular death and accounts for the majority of deaths from VTE.3

May 28, 2026 — Coredio has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted its Cardiac Performance Simulation Engine (CPSE) Breakthrough Device Designation and accepted the platform into the FDA’s Total Product Life Cycle Advisory Program (TAP). CPSE is a software-only platform designed to deliver catheterization-comparable hemodynamic assessment using consumer smartwatches and standard blood pressure cuffs in clinical and home settings under physician supervision.

May 20, 2026 — Medtronic has released the three-year results of the SMall Annuli Randomized To Evolut or SAPIEN (SMART) Trial, the largest international head-to-head comparative trial of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

In patients with aortic stenosis (AS) and a small aortic annulus, results showed all individual and composite hemodynamic measures continue to be superior at three years for Evolut TAVR compared to SAPIEN. The science was presented at EuroPCR 2026 in Paris, France.

May 26, 2026 — According to researchers in Europe, women are more likely to face delays in diagnosis of cardiovascular disease and, as a result, they are more likely to die or develop more serious illness. To address this in inequality, Europe needs dedicated women’s heart centers, according to a report published in the European Heart Journal1.

May 21, 2026 — Adagio Medical Holdings, a provider of catheter ablation technologies for treating cardiac arrhythmias, has submitted its Premarket Approval (PMA) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the vCLAS Ventricular Ablation System for treating drug-refractory, recurrent, sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT) in patients with ischemic or non-ischemic structural heart disease.
