July 26, 2012 — A new study shows promising data for a new method to image the source of atrial fibrillation (AF) and target its ablation to greatly reduce procedure time and substantially improve patient outcomes. The results of the CONFIRM (Conventional Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation With or Without Focal Impulse and Rotor Modulation) study were published online this week by the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.


A study using CT perfusion imaging showed patients presenting with ischemic stroke may be successfully treated with endovascular or minimally invasive therapy well beyond the eight-hour treatment window considered standard by most neurointerventional practitioners.

July 26, 2012 — Angion Biomedica Corp. announced that the first patient was dosed in a Phase II multicenter clinical trial evaluating BB3 for the treatment of heart attack (acute myocardial infarction). The first patient, a 69-year-old man, was treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. This double-blind, placebo-controlled study is designed to enroll 80 patients following a first heart attack.
