October 23, 2007 – Patients who received the CYPHER Sirolimus-eluting coronary stent had a lower risk of stent thrombosis and were less likely to need another procedure at the same lesion site (target lesion revascularization) than patients who received a Taxus stent, according to an analysis of 15-month data from the Western Denmark Heart Registry presented at TCT 2007.

October 23, 2007 - ENDEAVOR IV reached its primary endpoint of target vessel failure non-inferiority when compared to the Taxus stent, according to new 12-month data from Medtronic's ENDEAVOR IV (E-IV) trial presented at TCT 2007.
"It was very gratifying to learn that the Endeavor had similar efficacy compared to Taxus for all lesion subsets," said martin B. Leon, M.D., founder and chariman ermeritus of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, professor of Medicine, Columbia University medical Center and principal investigator of the ENDEAVOR III and ENDEAVOR IV trials.

OCTOBER 23, 2007 – Abbott’s fully bioabsorbable drug eluting stent platform for the treatment of coronary artery disease reported no stent thrombosis and a low major adverse cardiac event (MACE) rate at one year, according to results from ABSORB, the world’s first clinical trial evaluating the safety and performance of the stent, presented at TCT 2007.

October 22, 2007 – Stent thrombosis rates through one year were low for both the TAXUS Express2 Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent System (0.6 percent, 0.6 percent) and the XIENCE V (PROMUS) Everolimus Eluting Coronary Stent System. (0.8 percent, 1.1 percent), according to results from the SPIRIT III Clinical Trial announced Boston Scientific at TCT 2007.
Analysis of the data was presented by Gregg W. Stone, M.D., of Columbia University Medical Center and the Cardiovascular Research Foundation in New York, and the Principal Investigator of the SPIRIT III Trial.
