April 26, 2007 — Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and Pfizer Inc. have announced a worldwide collaboration to develop and commercialize apixaban, an anticoagulant discovered by Bristol-Myers Squibb that is being studied for the prevention and treatment of a broad range of venous and arterial thrombotic conditions.

April 26, 2007 — Northwest Center for Congenital Heart Disease has announced the establishment of an imaging network to improve cardiac services provided to patients throughout the Inland Northwest. The new network enables the transmission of an echocardiogram, a moving ultrasound image of the heart, through a secure Internet site from a hospital to an office/home computer.

April 25, 2007 — Bristol-Myers Squibb will host a groundbreaking ceremony May 2 for its new biologics facility in Devens, MA. The state’s governor, Deval Patrick, as well as other state and local officials and community leaders will be present. Speakers at the groundbreaking will include Gov. Patrick and Bristol-Myers Squibb chief executive officer Jim Cornelius.

The company announced the selection of the Devens site in June 2006 and recently began construction of the facility, which is expected to be operational in 2009.

April 25, 2007 — CV Therapeutics Inc. has announced that data from the MERLIN TIMI-36 study will be published in this week's issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). The company plans to ask the FDA to modify the existing product labeling for Ranexa (ranolazine extended-release tablets) by reducing cautionary language and expanding the indication to include first-line angina.

April 24, 2007 — Ascent Healthcare Solutions announced today that the FDA has increased the number of times that Ascent can reprocess the Siemens AcuNav Ultrasound Catheter from two to up to four times. Validation data submitted to the FDA covered all available models.

April 24, 2007 — Abiomed Inc. has announced completion of the enrollment of 20 patients in its pilot clinical trial of the Impella 2.5 Circulatory Support System. The trial will be completed after the company has concluded all necessary post-enrollment patient monitoring.

April 24, 2007 — NMT Medical Inc. has announced it has received conditional approval from the FDA to its revised study hypothesis and statistical plan in the CLOSURE I patent foramen ovale (PFO)/stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) trial in the U.S. As part of the revised plan, the company plans to enroll approximately 800 patients.
