The advent of transcatheter valve repair and replacement technologies is one of those rare instances where there is a rapid paradigm shift in medicine. Since the first transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) systems were cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2011 (Edwards Lifesciences Sapien) and 2014 (Medtronic CoreValve), TAVR rapidly expanded. It is also fueling enthusiasm for new transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) technology.

 Medtronic plc announced that the Medtronic Micra Transcatheter Pacing System (TPS) was successfully implanted in nearly all patients in the trial and met its safety and effectiveness endpoints with wide margins. These data, from the Medtronic Micra TPS Global Clinical Trial, were presented during a late-breaking special report session at the 2015 American Heart Association Scientific Sessions and simultaneously published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Advanced Cardiac Physiology and Anatomy Course

MC3 Cardiopulmonary announced it has completed the acquisition and transfer of all assets associated with Terumo Cardiovascular's previously marketed surgical cannula line, including leading brand names like Sarns Soft-Flow Arterial Cannula. The company plans to reintroduce the cannula during the first half of 2016.
